Edelstahl ist aufgrund seiner physikalischen und strukturellen Eigenschaften ein weit verbreitetes Material in industriellen und architektonischen Anwendungen. Aufgrund der Anwesenheit von Chrom in seiner Zusammensetzung weist es eine hohe Oxidations- und Korrosionsbeständigkeit auf; Dieses Element verbindet sich mit Sauerstoff und bildet eine schützende Oberflächenschicht aus Chromoxid, die sogenannte Passivschicht.
Es verfügt über eine hohe mechanische und Verschleißfestigkeit, eine hohe Haltbarkeit und ist leicht zu bearbeiten und zu handhaben.
Es handelt sich um ein Material, das sich durch seine hohe Nachhaltigkeit auszeichnet, da es eine lange Lebensdauer hat und kaum oder gar keine Wartung erfordert. Darüber hinaus ist es am Ende seiner Nutzungsdauer zu 100 % recycelbar, wobei die durchschnittliche Recyclingquote zwischen 60 % und fast 90 % liegt. Bei der Herstellung entstehen nur minimale Mengen an CO2 und anderen Emissionen.
Es hat zahlreiche Anwendungen in der Architektur und Innenarchitektur: Gehege von Pavillons bzw Garagen, Sanierung von Fassaden, Aufzüge, Treppe, Böden, Decken, Schutz von Öffnungen, Aufteilung der Räume, Veranden usw.
