The opening of the Budapest Puskás Aréna Stadium will take place next November 15, 2019, with the match played by the national football teams of Hungary and Uruguay.
The construction of the Puskás Aréna Stadium started in 2017, sitting on the formerly known as Népstadion (“People’s Stadium”), opened in 1953. The Népstadion was completely demolished in March 2016, at the time the reconstruction works of the current Puskas Arena began.
The Puskás Aréna stadium capacity is 67,889 people for football events, while for concerts it can accommodate up to 80,000 people. All locations have their own seat. The stadium is the biggest investment in Hungarian sports infrastructure made in recent years. In addition, the Hungarian Football Federation has met all standards for UEFA and FIFA stadiums in order to receive the 5-star rating.
The Puskás Aréna Stadium is the second tallest building in Budapest, with a height of 52 meters. In its construction 10 thousand tons of steel and 150 cubic meters of reinforced concrete have been used.
In addition, Codina has been involved in the construction of the new Puskás Aréna stadium, with the application of 20,000 m2 of Codina metal meshes. The chosen mesh model has been Eiffel 20100 and its application has been made through panels 4m wide x 28m long.
