Acier inoxydable est un matériau largement utilisé dans les applications industrielles et architecturales, en raison de ses propriétés physiques et structurelles. Il présente une haute résistance à l’oxydation et à la corrosion grâce à la présence de chrome dans sa composition ; Cet élément se combine à l’oxygène et crée une couche superficielle protectrice d’oxyde de chrome, appelée couche passive.
Il présente une résistance mécanique et à l’usure élevée, une durabilité élevée et est facile à usiner et à manipuler.
C'est un matériau qui se distingue par sa grande durabilité, car il a une longue durée de vie et nécessite peu ou pas d'entretien. De plus, il est 100 % recyclable en fin de vie, avec un taux de recyclage moyen compris entre 60 % et près de 90 %. Sa production génère des niveaux minimes de CO2 et d’autres émissions.
Ses applications sont nombreuses en architecture et en décoration intérieure : enceinte de pavillons ou garages, réhabilitation de façades, ascenseurs, escaliers, sols, plafonds, protection des ouvertures, division des espaces, etc.
