Architectural mesh for facade – Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier
Designed by François Fontès Architectes, the School of Medicine Montpellier—also known as the Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier—features a remarkable entrance that impresses both in size and style, measuring 65 metres in length and reaching an impressive height of 12.7 metres. This new architectural jewel is not only an educational hub but also a testament to modern design, with extensive use of glass and concrete elements. Complementing these materials, large sections of the building are clad in a distinctive metal mesh. This metal mesh in Montpellier’s School of Medicine provides a unique visual texture to the faculty of medicine facade, adding both functional benefits and aesthetic appeal to the structure.
Covering a total of 3,600 square metres, the faculty facade is adorned with stainless steel Paxton metal mesh, enhancing the building’s durability and creating an eye-catching interplay of light and shadow across the structure. These metal meshes are securely anchored to the facade using the robust TF-10 fasteners, ensuring stability and longevity for the entire installation. This innovative facade was made possible thanks to the close collaboration with Maille Metal Design, a trusted partner known for their expertise in architectural metalwork. This project exemplifies modern architectural trends in Montpellier, highlighting the functionality and beauty of metal mesh in the Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier and offering a fresh, contemporary look for this historic institution.
